Creating a decarbonisation co-pilot for a new customer segment

Strategy

Creating a sales forecaster in TrueState's drag-and-drop interface
The Brief

Terralytiq helps businesses decarbonise their supply chains.

They had developed a platform to support management consultancies such as Bain & Company on decarbonisation engagements. This created a dependency on a third party to acquire customers and grow the business.

They asked us to reimagine their service and product to allow them to directly support manufacturing businesses, while scoping opportunities for a GenAI decarbonisation co-pilot.

Our Approach

Collaborating directly with Terralytiq's COO and their Design Lead, we mapped the current customer journey, as well as the team's assumptions about opportunities and pain points.

We then synthesised customer and expert interviews to understand and prioritise pain points, and gauge opportunities for GenAI-enabled functionality.

In a complete end-to-end Service Blueprint, we mapped all our insights. This created a canvass for workshops with the client, stimulating stakeholder discussions, and allowing us to specify the route forward.

We then brought it all to life with wireframes and designs for key pieces of the future customer journey.

Supporting an Existing Design Team

Terralytiq already had their own Design Lead in place who was a key champion of our work. This is because:

  • We made notable progress on new initiatives while they could continue to service ongoing product initiatives
  • We offered a neutral perspective on best practices which they felt gave their own voices more weight
  • We offered examples of working with new methods and tooling which the whole organisation could immediately benefit from
  • We reused their design assets and involved them regularly in workshops to ensure our work seamlessly slotted into theirs
  • We freed up time to offer our perspective and guidance on workstreams not technically part of our brief
The Solution

Our workshops and mapping activities revealed critical bottle necks, delays, and opportunities spanning from immediate product improvements to mid-term strategic readjustments.

Crucially, we identified nuances and dependencies in the relationship between manufacturers and their suppliers - the latter having previously been neglected. This led to a strategic and product focus on suppliers as a 'make-or-break' user group.

Our designs created to facilitate manufacturer-supplier collaboration made solutions tangible and formed the foundations of a new product direction which could now be successfully deployed directly to manufacturers.

We're building our Scope 3 decarbonisation platform and MN provided substantial product and design contributions.

It's not just advice and wisdom from years in the field of AI; it's hard artefacts that continue to anchor our product development months after the projects: user research & synthesis, service blueprints, design frames.

If you want someone to plug in and deliver rapid impact, MN are your guys.
